Background:
The purpose of this project is to extend the existing westbound right turn lane on Sand Lake Road to Lake Brantley High School, to include the milling and resurfacing of existing travel lanes on Sand Lake Road, the relocation of existing mast arm signal and construction of 6-ft sidewalk at Lake Brantley High School entrance. The project will include installing three new mast arm signals at the intersection of State Road 434 and Sand Lake Rd, the construction of a 6-ft wide sidewalk from Lake Brantley High School to State Road 434, adjustment of two drainage structures and new 8-ft wide sidewalk on the south side of Sand Lake Road. Lighting Improvements includes installing luminaires on mast arms. Intersection lighting will be provided by Duke Energy.
The Sand Lake Road at West Lake Brantley Road Turn Lane Project is a “goes-with” project that will be advertised with the State Road 434 Project and will be locally funded by Seminole County. This project includes the construction of a new eastbound right turn lane on Sand Lake Road to West Lake Brantley Road, to include the construction of 6-ft sidewalk and pedestrian signal. All proposed construction will be within the existing right-of-way.
The two projects are estimated to be $2,166,561.00. The State of Florida Department of Transportation will provide funding in an amount up to $612,000.00 for the Sand Lake Road at State Road 434 Project, Seminole County Public Works will cover the difference in project costs and FDOT funding with Penny Sales Tax funds in an estimated amount of $1,554,561.00
