Background:

The Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) through the United State Department of Agriculture - USDA NRCS program provides funding for recovery of waterways damaged from Hurricane Ian.  The County has requested funding for ten projects in the County and EWP has approved the projects for funding.  These projects must be completed by 220 days from March 15, 2023.  Projects cannot start until a contract has been executed.  EWP is working to prepare the contract for Seminole County to include the specified projects.  We anticipate the contract from EWP before the end of the month to start work on these projects.  Staff is working to have contractors in place to complete work as soon as the contract is executed.

NRCS grants have a matching cost-share requirement of 25% which amounts to $2,362,605 which will come from General Fund Reserves.
