Background:

FloridaCommerce and SelectFlorida are launching a coordinated effort to strengthen Florida’s economic development ecosystem by issuing a Memorandum of Understanding with a single economic development organization in each county, as well as with regional Economic Development Organizations. These agreements are designed to create a foundation for seamless collaboration in areas such as state programs and initiatives, business leads, company visitations, technical assistance, publications, joint marketing and branding, participation in the Economic Development Advisory Council (EDAC), and quarterly meetings. By formalizing this partnership, Seminole County affirms its role in advancing Florida’s competitiveness, ensuring better alignment between local, regional, and statewide strategies, and creating new opportunities for investment, job growth, and long-term economic prosperity.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Memorandum of Understanding between FloridaCommerce, SelectFlorida, and Seminole County, establishing a framework for collaboration in advancing statewide economic development, international trade, and investment initiatives.
