Background:

The Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Discretionary Grant Program came out of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The purpose of the SS4A Program is to improve roadway safety by employing the Vision Zero Program and by significantly reducing or eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries through the creation of a Safety Action Plan development and implementation. The initial step is the creation of the Safety Action Plan, funded by Metroplan Orlando, to establish a High-Injury Network and identify projects and countermeasures that will address the safety issues identified. The second part is the implementation of the projects and countermeasures identified in the Safety Action Plan. Grants are available to local jurisdictions through the SS4A Program to implement the projects and countermeasures identified in the County Safety Action Plan.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Resolution in support of the Florida Department of Transportation Vision Zero Program and approve the Seminole County Safety Action Plan that identifies safety projects to be eligible for the Implementation Grants through the Safe Streets and Roads for All Discretionary Grant program.
