Background:

In July of 1997, Part 2 (Travel Expenses) of Chapter 5 (Administration) of the Code of Ordinances was created including Meal allowances in Sec. 5.21 and Reimbursable travel expenses directly required for the solicitation of economic development in Seminole County in Sec 5.22.  In October of 1997 Sec 5.23 was added for Travel in foreign countries.  These were the only policies for travel until September 1999 when the Administrative Code was updated to include under Section 3 County Administration 3.50 TRAVEL.

To avoid duplicative and conflicting regulations, the policy of the Board of County Commissioners for Travel as a best practice is included in the Administrative Code.  This repeal will remove reference to travel from the Code of Ordinances and the travel policy will stand in a singular location which is section 3.50 of the Administrative Code.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board approve an Ordinance of Seminole County, Florida repealing Part 2 (Travel Expenses) of Chapter 5 (Administration) of the Seminole County Code of Ordinances in its entirety.
