Background:
The Seminole County Office of Emergency Management is seeking approval to pursue a FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance Grant Program on behalf of the Sanlando Center Office Park at 2170 W SR 434. The goal of this project is to mitigate future erosion concerns to infrastructure along the Little Wekiva River. As a result of multiple heavy rainfall events, the stormwater management system associated with the Sanlando Office Park has become vulnerable to future erosion effects; these facilities are located on the western edge of the project along the Little Wekiva River. The industrial chillers for the office park and part of the property are just a few feet from the eroded riverbank. In its current condition, the topography leaves the property vulnerable during the next major high-flow event on the river. This project is estimated at $877,105.
The FEMA Flood Mitigation Assistance Grant Program allows for a 75% federal cost share. The federal government will share $657,828.75 of the project cost, and the property owner will share $219,276.25. This project would not require a county match.
