Background:

The 18th Circuit Court Problem Solving Court Program has requested that Seminole County apply for a grant through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention to establish a Family Treatment Court Program. In August 2025, the Board approved a grant application to DOJ for the 2025 Family Treatment grant but was not awarded.  The Courts request to reapply for the FY 2026 Family Treatment Court Program.  If awarded, the grant will fund up to $850,000 for the new Family Treatment Court.  The grant would fund one new grant funded FTE for a Senior Case Manager position and support treatment services for participants. The grant requires 25% in-kind match contribution which will be provided through personnel support from the 18th Circuit Court including the Problem-Solving Courts Manager, State Attorney, and presiding Judge.
