Background:
M-4790-23/RTB was undertaken as an emergency procurement to address the immediate repair of a collapsed sewer line on Lockwood Boulevard. The original emergency Agreement was issued to Kiewit Water Facilities Co, Florida and ratified by the Board during its February 28, 2023, meeting on the consent agenda.
As the project progressed, unexpected challenges emerged, necessitating additional work and funding. These include: (1) repairs to manholes and adjacent roadways not in the original scope of work which were necessary to ensure the safety, functionality, and structural integrity of the system; and (2) additional dewatering costs resulting from differing site conditions that created a need for extended dewatering activities to manage the groundwater levels, stabilize the site, and complete the repairs effectively.
Amendment 7 addresses the unanticipated costs and issues.
