Background:

The Seminole County Committee on Aging was established to provide input and recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding issues, policies, and services that will promote and enhance the quality of life for Seminole County's senior residents.

To continue to provide relevant and quality information to the Board, the Committee would like to make adjustments to the makeup and size of the Committee’s Board that would allow more flexibility in representation from the community and partner agencies. To coincide with the Administrative Code Section 4.6 amendment, the Seminole County Committee on Aging Bylaws: Article III - Membership Structure - 1. Requirements; were also amended on April 17, 2025 to read, “For the Local Senior Resident, the individual must be 60 years of age or older.”  The changes would also reflect that the Community Health Division shall provide administrative support and serve as the BCC liaison to the Committee.

Specific updates to the membership would allow a minimum of ten (10) members and a maximum of fourteen (14) members, with a quorum consisting of a majority of currently appointed members. Additionally, updates would reflect the following Board makeup:

Local Law Enforcement - One (1) member

Local Senior Initiatives (examples) - Up to (3) members

                     Seminole Volunteers

                     Visiting Nurses

                     Meals on Wheels
