Background:

Seminole County entered into the Florida Opioid Allocation and Statewide Response Agreement with the State of Florida Department of Legal Affairs, Office of the Attorney General where the parties agreed to the allocation and use of settlement dollars. Seminole County is a Qualified County and, as such, will receive opioid litigation funds for at least the next 16 years, totaling over $30M, with projected allocations reducing over time. 5% of opioid settlement funds received can be used for administrative purposes.

Community Services is requesting one full-time employee (FTE), Program Manager, to provide support in the management of opioid settlement funds. The position will be funded with opioid settlement funds for authorized purposes.

This request is aligned with the core strategies and approved uses of the opioid settlement funds.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board of County Commissioners approve one FTE Community Health Program Manager, funded by opioid settlement dollars, to support Community Services / Community Health.
