Background:
Through the JAG-C grant, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) provides an annual allocation to local government agencies for activities that prevent and control crime. Staff was notified that Seminole County's allocation for Federal FY2023 is $142,758.
The grant guidelines require that all units of government in the county reach a consensus concerning the distribution of these funds for projects within the FDLE specified focus areas. The FDLE recommends facilitation of this consensus and coordination of the application process be handled by Seminole County. Staff is requesting Board acceptance of this role by execution of a Certificate of Participation naming Allison Thall as the designated coordinator.
In compliance with the grant guidelines, Ms. Thall will attend a meeting with representatives from each of the seven (7) municipalities and the Sheriff's Office to achieve the required consensus for the use of the funding.
