Background:

The Cross Seminole Trail Overpass/Pedestrian Connection at US 17-92 aims to enhance pedestrian and recreational connectivity by constructing approximately 0.217 miles of a multi-use path. This path will link the existing sidewalks along US 17/92 with the Cross Seminole Trail, improving safety and accessibility for trail users. The LAP Agreement with the Florida Department of Transportation, totaling $1,089,087.00 (50% of the updated construction cost), was executed in November 2023 to fund 100% of the originally estimated construction cost. Although engineering costs have since increased to $2,161,935.04, no changes to the LAP Agreement are approved by Federal Government. The original LFA Agreement was executed to fund 100% of the CEI services. Following updates to the plans and project documents, the project duration increased from 120 to 223 days. As a result, the County agrees to cover the CEI shortfall cost of $136,221.00. The federal participating share of the CEI services is up to $147,943.00 (52% of the updated CEI cost), and the total estimated cost for CEI services for this project is $284,164.00.
