Background:

The State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection provides notice of grant opportunities in July of each year with a due date this year of September 1st.  The grant application will be scored and ranked and presented to the legislative body in the Spring 2027 for fiscal year 2028 funding.  In collaboration with the Departments of Public Works, Parks and Recreation, and Environmental Services, the County requests to submit two grant applications for approved projects.

The Resilient Florida grant is for the Deer Run Stormwater Improvement and requests up to $5 million with an equal match requirement for the project.  The second application is for the Springs and Watershed Restoration grant requesting up to $1.7 million to install three baffle boxes to address pollutant loads in outfall pipe that discharges in the Little Wekiva River.  This grant has a 20% matching requirement for the project.
