Background:
CC-6545-25/MAG will provide 0.217 miles of recreational path that will allow additional connectivity and provide access from the US 17/92 adjacent sidewalks to the Cross Seminole Trail, located in the vicinity of the intersection between US 17/92 and General Hutchinson Parkway. The work to be performed by the Contractor consists of, but is not limited to, a retaining wall system, drainage improvements, construction of concrete sidewalk, signage and pavement marking, clearing and grubbing, excavation, embankment work and the maintenance of traffic.
The project was publicly advertised and the County received five (5) bids in response to the solicitation. The Review Committee consists of Sam Moussa, Professional Engineer; Stephen Miller, Professional Engineer; Joseph LoFaso, Assistant County Engineer; and Tawny Olore, Public Works Director reviewed the responses, giving consideration to bid price, qualifications and experience.
The Review Committee recommends award to the lowest priced, responsive, responsible bidder, Southland Construction, Inc. of Apopka, FL in the amount of $2,086,753.09. The Completion time for this project is one hundred ninety-three (193) calendar days to Substantial Completion and an additional thirty (30) calendar days to Final Completion after issuance of the Notice to Proceed by the County.
The Engineer’s Estimate for the project is $2,161,935.04.
This is a budgeted project, Funding for this project includes $132,633 from Core Mobility Fee Fund (CIP#02607051), $870,291 from Suburban East Mobility Fee Fund (CIP#02607052) and $1,083,829 from Florida Department of Transportation (LAP) Funding (CIP#02307102), for a total funding amount of $2,086,753.09.

Staff requests that the Board award CC-6545-25/MAG - US 17/92 Overpass Pedestrian Improvements to Southland Construction, Inc. of Apopka, FL in the amount of $2,086,753.09, and authorize the Purchasing and Contracts Division to execute the Agreement.
