Background:

The updated policy replaces narrative-heavy structure with a more streamlined, user-friendly framework that clearly defines expectations for pre-authorization, documentation, and reimbursement.

Key improvements include reimbursement standards modernized through adoption of U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) per diem rates for meals and incidental expenses on authorized travel. GSA establishes the per diem rates for federal agencies to reimburse employees for lodging and meals and incidental expenses incurred on official travel within the continental United States.  The policy also addresses required documentation for reimbursement for each type of travel expense.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Resolution amending the Seminole County Administrative Code by revising section 3.5 (Travel Policy) and providing an effective date.
