Background:

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has published the FY2026 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to apply for Florida Boating Improvement Program (FBIP). FBIP grants are intended to provide funding for boating access projects and other boating-related activities benefiting motorized vessels in Florida. The State contribution is 75 percent towards each project requiring a 25 percent match from the applicant. There is approximately $3,000,000 in State funding available. Facilities involved in the planning project are the parking lot, a gangway and floating dock, an observation tower, and a fishing platform.

To get full application points and because some planned facilities will benefit non-boaters, a match is required. The County will provide up to $105,000 as match. Match funding will come from 2024 Infrastructure Sales Tax Funds (11580).
