Background:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has published the FY2026 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to apply for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. AFG grants are intended to provide funding to enhance the safety and effectiveness of fire and emergency medical service operations through the acquisition of equipment, protective gear, and other critical resources.

Grant funding will support the purchase and implementation of Portable Radios, Personal Protective Equipment and/or Thermal Imaging Cameras which will improve firefighter safety, operational readiness, and emergency response capabilities within the Seminole County Fire Department.

The AFG program provides federal funding for eligible project costs in accordance with FEMA grant requirements. The required 10% local cost share will be funded through 11200-Fire Fund.
