Background:
The U.S. Department of Transportation has released its Fiscal Year 2025 and 2026 Advanced Technology and Innovation (ATTAIN) grant funding for advanced safety systems and integrated corridor management system. The Implementation grant can request up to $10 million of Federal funding with a local match of 20%. The application was submitted on 7/24/2026.
The Seminole County Connected Vehicle and Intelligent Transportation Systems Initiative application has requested $8,452,000 of Federal funding with a match of $2,113,000 for upgrading all traffic signals in Seminole County with the latest technology to improve safety throughout the County. This is to reduce accidents and support the expansion of Seminole County's existing Scout on-demand transportation service through Freebee service expansion contract to include three dedicated vehicles with maintenance and operation serving a defined corridor from the City of Altamonte Springs SunRail Station to the University of Central Florida (UCF).
