Background:
PS-4310-22/GCM provides engineering services for the design of two (2) multi-use recreational trail tunnels along Wekiva Trail, including drainage, utility adjustments, permitting, signing, and pavement and marking plans, identification of right-of-way needs, Maintenance of traffic, plans, existing right-of-way, survey suitable for the identification of existing right-of-way and easements (including title search and legal description), and all required permitting.
The project was placed on a temporary hold during the design process as a list of challenges and possible solutions for the tunnels was created. Insurmountable design and progress challenges lead to stopping the project as of August 15, 2024 except for the efforts in closeout presentation development and cost estimating for presentation support.
On February 12, 2025, the County notified GPI to initiate the process for closing the project in the current state. GPI has transferred all files in the current state to the County and has been compensated for all completed work and submitted invoices to date. This contract is recommended to be terminated unilaterally for convenience.
