Background:

The Children’s Mental Health Initiative (CMHI) was submitted on 4/20/2026 and seeks Board ratification for this grant. The grant will provide funding for comprehensive community mental health services for children and young adults who are currently involved in or are at risk of child welfare involvement.  Community Health seeks to partner with Family Partnerships of Central Florida to provide direct services to children and youth ages birth through 21, along with their respective families. Priorities will be made to individuals who are identified as neurodivergent and at risk with serious emotional disturbances.

If awarded, Seminole County will receive up to $1,000,000 annually for up to four years to implement a structured countywide approach to strengthen collaboration across behavioral health, education, child welfare, and juvenile justice systems.  The initiative emphasizes early identification, coordinated service delivery, integrated care, and family-driven, youth- guided services.  This effort would enhance the County’s capacity to address gaps in children’s behavioral health services and improve outcomes for children and families.

SAMHSA CMHI grant requires a match of 33% in years one, two and three, and 100% match in year four of the grant award.  Family Partnership of Central Florida with partners will meet the matching requirements for the grant with in-kind services.
