Background:
CareerSource Central Florida’s year-round youth programming aims to provide young adult residents in Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole, and Sumter Counties with valuable insights into various career possibilities. During the summer, the program takes advantage of students’ break from secondary education to introduce them to the most thrilling and high-demand industries in their region. Throughout the academic year, students will access similar programming that works around their educational commitments. CSCF offers a three-tiered programming (E3) that provides students with three different tracks available to based on their age group - explore, engage, and experience. To further streamline the program in FY24, the tracks will be designated based on students’ ages.
During the summer, all participants, regardless of track, will receive a week-long power skills training/curriculum through CSCF’s Workforce Readiness Academy prior to their immersive programs at partner facilities. This training will equip students with essential lifelong skills to become dependable, attentive, and innovative professionals. This offering serves as a valuable foundation for the subsequent 5 weeks of skills training, covering topics such as management, leadership, creative strategic thinking, maintaining motivation in their work, and more. During this initial week, participants will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts, engage in valuable group exercises, and receive essential resources to support their success throughout the remainder of the program. Year-round programming will embed power skills training through regular programming.
TRACKS - MAJOR COMPONENTS OF CSCF’S YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM:
1.) EXPLORE - Participants explore college and career options through awareness activities, field trips, post-secondary tours, industry tours, and interest/aptitude assessments. Ages 14-15.
2.) ENGAGE - Participants take part in service learning, supported work experiences, and skill-based learning in a variety of career clusters. Workplace skills are incorporated. Ages 15-16.
3.) EXPERIENCE - Participants gain valuable workplace skills, real-world experience, and connections to the industry’s employers through networking and on-the-job training and internships. Ages 17+.
