Background:

At the July 17, 2024, Parks & Preservation Advisory Committee (PPAC) meeting the committee discussed the naming of the park around Wildwood Lake in Sanford. The Parks and Recreation Department has worked to make significant improvements to this area and would like to move forward with naming the asset Lake Wildwood Park. 

Seminole County Administrative Code Section 3. County Administration, Section 3.60 Policy for Naming Seminole County Assets provides a policy and guidelines for naming assets owned and operated by the Seminole County Board of County Commissioners (BCC).

Section 3.60 (D) Qualifying Names and Criteria. Names considered should provide some form of individual identity in relation to the following:

(1) The geographic location of the asset, including descriptive names;

(2) An outstanding feature of the asset or the surrounding area;

(3) An adjoining subdivision street, school, or natural feature;

(4) A commonly recognized individual, group, or event; or

(5) An individual who contributed in a positive and significant way to the betterment of the asset.

Attached is the form, Proposal for Naming Seminole County Assets, that provides a brief justification for the naming for the County asset to Lake Wildwood Park.
