Background:

Seminole County receives transmission of Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) data from the Florida Department of Commerce (Commerce) on a quarterly basis. This data allows the Economic Development department to analyze the county's businesses by number of businesses, employees, wages, location, and industry sector.

The Florida Department of Commerce prepares an agreement every three years to establish confidentiality guidelines for Commerce to provide Seminole County with Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW) data, including confidential RA information.

This agreement was previously entered in 2022 with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) which was eliminated and replaced by the Florida Department of Commerce.  This agreement provides an amendment to the new name of the organization and provides an extension for an additional three years.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Data Sharing Agreement with the Florida Department of Commerce for the transmission to Seminole County of the confidential QCEW information.
