Background:

The 18th Circuit Court Problem Solving Court Program has requested that Seminole County apply for a grant through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance to enhance Problem Solving Court Services. If awarded, the grant would provide up to $1,300,000 over a three-year period. Seminole County received this grant in 2022 and demonstrated a strong track record of successful program implementation.  The current grant award ends on 9/30/26. New funding will be used to expand the Problem-Solving Court's recovery services through enhanced screening and evaluation, increased drug testing within the courthouse, a dedicated liaison position between the Courts and the Corrections facility and expanded treatment services to include family involvement.  The grant will fund a new Full Time Equivalent (FTE) for Drug Lab Administrative Specialist to support the expansion of the Drug Lab services.

The grant does not require match funding. The grant does require the signature of the Chief Executive Officer to sign that the County is following Federal statues regarding citizenship and Civil Rights and that subrecipients will follow the same compliance.
