Background:

On June 25, 2019, the Board of County Commissioners approved the addition of the upgraded hardscape and landscape plans for the Oxford Road Improvement/Extension Project.

On August 27, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners authorized execution of Construction Services Agreement Contract No. CC-5744-24/GCM with Masci General Contractor, Inc. for the Oxford Road Improvements/Extension Project in the total amount of $40,065,087.29.

To optimize fiscal spending, staff is requesting authorization to implement Value Engineering (VE) procedures targeting, for reduction, the $1,659,214.13 general contractor landscaping and hardscape allocation. Under this directive, staff will utilize active post-design mechanisms in PS-8827-13/DRR Work Order 3- Amendment 13 to redraw plans, issue and execute a deductive Change Order to the construction project to be issued and executed by the Purchasing Division.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board approval to allow staff to implement Value Engineering to deduct landscaping and hardscape items on the Oxford Road Project. This will allow a deductive Change Order to be issued and executed by the Purchasing Division.
