Background:

The 18th Circuit Court requested the County apply for the Florida Department of Children and Families grant funding for the expansion of a Court Diversion Program (CDP) in Seminole County to divert individuals who use opioids and/or have an Opioid Use Disorder diagnosis from incarceration by connecting program participants to a range of recovery support services and community-based treatment.

The award will provide $1,091,884.00 over three years to support the Adult Drug Court, funding services such as one year of case management, housing assistance, detox and residential treatment, peer support specialists, travel passes, and vocational and educational services. The budget was appropriated in the FY 2024/2025 Adopted Budget.

Requested Action:

Staff requests that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a $1,091,884.00 grant contract with the Florida Department of Children and Families to support the Seminole County Court Diversion Program, and authorize the County Manager or designee to execute all documents associated with the grant award.
