Background:

State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program was established to meet the housing needs of very low and moderate income households, to expand production of and preserve affordable housing, and to further the goals of housing element of the local government comprehensive plan, specifically the affordable housing component. Seminole County has received SHIP Program funding since 1993 and has used SHIP funding to provide affordable rental and ownership housing for hundreds of low- and moderate-income households. The County's SHIP allocation for Program Year 2024/2025 is $3,688,898.  There is no match for this grant.  BAR 24-067 in the amount of $3,688,898 will appropriate budget for the grant.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Resolution implementing the Budget Amendment Request (BAR) 24-067 through the SHIP Grant Fund in the amount of $3,688,898 to establish funding for the FY24/25 SHIP allocation grant.
