Background:
The Community Development Division administers SHIP funds distributed by the Florida Housing Finance Corporation annually. The use of the funds is limited to administrative expenses and the approved program strategies within each Local Housing Assistance Plan. Each LHAP encompasses three (3) annual funding years and can be revised as needed.
Due to the growing cost of construction materials and purchase prices of homes, many of the agreements generated between income eligible homeowners and the County are in excess of $100,000 to either rehabilitate or reconstruct a home. Further, the Community Development Division produces a high volume of agreements in relation to the strategies mentioned, and it is imperative that the agreements be fully executed as soon as possible in order to minimize the household’s residency in an unsafe/uninhabitable home.
Requested Action:
Staff requests the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute any Agreements that are valued greater than $100,000, in connection to the strategies set forth in the current and future SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plans (LHAP), and any subsequent amendments or documents.
