Background:
The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) is authorized by Section 404 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief Act. The funding helps communities implement measures to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards and their effects. The Seminole County Resiliency Working Group has approved three projects under the HMGP Hurricane Debby. The projects are Markham Road at Timberbrook & Bridge Water in the amount of $187,740; Cecilia Drive in the amount of $1,355,620; and Bear Lake Woods area in the amount of $2,035,822 for a total of $3,579,182.
HMGP projects require a 25% local match of the total project cost, which is divided into two phases: Phase I for design and permitting, and Phase II for construction.
