Background:

Approximately 1,900 feet of US-441 (Orange Blossom Trail) crosses the southwest corner of Seminole County. The owner/developer of 2371 S. Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka, FL (Prestige RV Storage) has requested water utilities to serve this business. While Orange County Utilities has a water main nearby, Seminole County does not have water lines in this area and extending them would be cost-prohibitive.

Orange County Utilities has agreed to provide fire-flow water service and will allow potable water service through an interlocal agreement (ILA). This agreement will allow Seminole County to purchase water at wholesale from Orange County and resell it to Prestige RV Storage. The estimated water usage is 1.5 equivalent residential connections. All costs to install the necessary infrastructure will be paid by the developer.

Requested Action:

Staff requests the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute an Interlocal Agreement with Orange County regarding wholesale water service.
