Background:
In August 2023, Habitat for Humanity of Seminole County and Greater Apopka Inc. acquired eighteen single-family lots located at W 25th Street and Sarita Street, Sanford, Florida, 32773. Habitat for Humanity plans to combine these lots to create a subdivision consisting of nineteen single-family homes, with ten of these homes partially financed by Seminole County.
Habitat for Humanity has requested assistance from the County to develop the necessary infrastructure for their project. The funds designated for Habitat for Humanity are essential to ensure that the existing offsite infrastructure systems meet compliance standards and will accommodate the new construction’s utilities within Sanford’s utility service area.
In accordance with the Attainable Housing Strategic Plan, Seminole County aims to enhance the availability of affordable and workforce housing. To support this initiative, Community Services staff recommend allocating $581,125.00 from the General Housing Trust fund as outlined in Ordinance 2021-14.

This funding will support the infrastructure development of ten homes within a nineteen-unit subdivision.
