Background:
Seminole County Animal Services needs a replacement commercial washing machine for laundry services. The current machine is no longer operational and causing a severe backlog of laundry. The machine needing to be replaced was procured in 2007 after the historic shelter fire. While additional machines also need to be replaced due to end of life, this machine has been requested under emergency procurement.
Without the existing machine being operational an additional backlog of laundry is occurring, impacting staffing and shelter operations. Failure to replace the machine would result in increased time necessary to process laundry or the need for an off-site commercial laundry service.
Requested Action:
Staff requests the Board approve and authorize the Chairman to execute a Resolution implementing Budget Amendment Request (BAR) #24-024 in the General Fund to transfer $13,200.00 of existing operating budget for the capital purchase of a commercial washer for Animal Services.
