Background:
The State of Florida Division of Emergency Management has issued a subaward agreement to Seminole County for use in the Fire Department Special Hazards and Operations team. The State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP) provides funding to teams that qualify throughout the State and region for response to Hazardous Materials incidents. Most of the equipment is sustained and purchased through this grant. Our HazMat team is a type one deployable which means we may be called to assist any fire department within the state. It is vital that we maintain this capability. The money within this grant will be used to replace and upkeep our capabilities which are outlined by the state. This helps maintain our capabilities to detect hazardous materials, explosives, and weapons of mass destruction.
The term of this grant will expire on 8/31/2026. BAR 24-023 will appropriate grant revenue in the amount of $43,281. There is no match requirement for this grant agreement.
