Background:
Seminole County Arts Funding Budget was adopted based on BEBR Population Estimate data showing a population of 477,455 for Seminole County, at $.301879 per capita, the total funding is $144,134. Of which $44,134 was allocated to fund the Seminole County Arts and Culture Grant program for the fiscal year 2022/2023.
$8,000 is being awarded to Sanford Porchfest Corporation, to aid in the funding of the costs for planning and implementing the following:
The annual Sanford Porchfest; music festival is a free grassroots event that unifies an entire community through music. This annual event takes place on the fourth Saturday of every February throughout the historic residential district of Sanford Florida. It is the ultimate sense of community where every guest, porch host, artist, and organizer play a part in the overall experience.
Set up within walkable (biking or golf cart) distances, various porches throughout the Sanford historic residential district serve as center stage for over fifty performances by local performers. Yards transform into front-row seating, where everyone is VIP. Oak-lined streets become backstage pathways, inviting you to explore the different sights and sounds of beautiful downtown Sanford, FL.
Through a partnership with the local art gallery, plein air artists capture scenes from the festival while spectators watch. These works of art are then auctioned off onsite alongside themed, commissioned art pieces by local artists to raise funds for the scholarship fund. Attendees can try their hand at creating a masterpiece at any of the interactive art installations found throughout the festival footprint.
