Background:

The Little Wekiva River Restoration Project (LWRRP) involves restoration efforts for approximately 20 acres of land around the Little Wekiva River from north of Springs Landing Bridge to just south of SR46. These restoration efforts include sediment and vegetation removal, revegetation, and aquatic plant management and are being managed by Seminole County. Government agencies including St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD), Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and Federal Environmental Protection Agency are all providing grant funding totaling $2.043M for these activities and County match of approximately $2.5M coming from 2014 Infrastructure Sales Tax funds.

The remaining cost estimates for this project include $3,842,032 for vegetation/sediment removal; $100,000 for revegetation; $25,000 for aquatic plant management activities and a 5% contingency at $198,353. In total, the project is estimated to need $4,165,385 in the current fiscal year budget to complete. Currently, the budget has $3,835,331 in available funds. The attached BAR will add $330,054 from Infrastructure Sales Tax Fund reserves to complete the project. Reserves in the 2014 Infrastructure Sales Tax fund are currently budgeted at $9.5M
